The finishes selected for this Bettendorf Iowa kitchen remodel are absolutely stunning! This before and after remodel story includes Amish-built cabinets, Cambria Quartz, Oak flooring, and Viking Appliances. Design, materials, and complete start to finish remodel by Village Home Stores. Let’s take a look around at what finishes and features are included in this beautiful new kitchen now complete in the Quad Cities.
Custom Amish Cabinetry in a Combination of Finishes
The cabinetry in the new kitchen design is brighter and taller than the original wood kitchen. Amish-built Four Acre cabinets in a combination of “Warm White” paint and quarter sawn White Oak in a “Charcoal” stain. The kitchen island and range hood are stained in the “Charcoal” finish along with some accent shelving in other specialty areas of the main level. What a difference from the original kitchen! Take a peek below at the transformation of the space when new flooring, cabinets, counters, and lighting are installed.
The entire main level of this home was transformed during this remodel process. We installed new flooring throughout as well as new shelving surrounding the fireplace (see below) and even remodeled a hallway powder room. We gave the stairwell a new look and custom-wrapped an existing post in this same “Charcoal” accent finish from the kitchen. The complete project management program at Village Home Stores allowed us to manage everything from start to finish for these Bettendorf homeowners.
The kitchen was already set up for an open concept design but a peninsula extending out by the french doors made the route from the deck to the kitchen sink long. Now a single-level island in the kitchen allows a great flow of foot traffic and many spacious work zones in the kitchen. A long wet bar area connects the casual dining area to the living room. This section of cabinetry is a cohesive look with the rest of the kitchen but keeps the bar and beverage zone of the room separated from the main kitchen when entertaining.

Pullout Storage Cabinets
The kitchen island design is a large single-level including the sink and dishwasher and two outside overhangs for seating. Outlets are hidden away below the overhangs and wooden legs and apron give a furniture look to the island. The two end cabinets on the island are specialty cabinets. To the left of the sink is a double-bin pullout waste cabinet and bookending the dishwasher on the right is a pullout tray divider.

The wall that is home to the range and hood includes lots of drawer storage for pots and pans and the range itself is flanked with pullout organizers. On the left, utensil organizing bins and two shelves below can be used to keep all those handled and awkwardly-shaped tools sorted. On the right of the stove is a pullout spice cabinet with adjustable shelves. Perfect for storing spices and even taller items like cooking oils, pullout shelves like this are on many of our client’s wishlists.

48″ Pro Style Viking Dual Fuel Range
The cabinet capacity surrounding the range is great and so is the capacity of the range itself. A combined 7.3 cu.ft. of oven space including two ovens, 6 porcelain-coated rack positions and three oven racks including one Full Extension Rack. This Viking Professional 5 Series 48″ Pro Style Dual Fuel range is the MVP of the kitchen with 7 burners and a built-in griddle. Rapid Ready Preheat shortens your wait time before using the ovens and features like a Porcelainized Cooking Surface with raised edges keep the surfaces easy to clean. The VariSimmer setting on ALL burners provides gentle, even simmering at precisely low cooking temperatures. Shop this Viking range and other products online, anytime at villagehomestores.com
Wood Hood With Insert
Above the cooktop is a wood range hood ordered with the kitchen cabinetry. A sleek design with slatted panels and a straight valance is stained in the same “Charcoal” accent as the kitchen island. A 45″ pro-style range hood insert by Broan is installed with an internal blower that has up to 900 CFMs if needed. This insert provides needed ventilation and lighting for the large commercial style cook surface.
Skara Brae Cambria Quartz
The Skara Brae Cambria Quartz truly is the show-stopping surface of this finished design. Used for both the countertops AND the backsplash area, it is absolutely stunning on both planes. The veining in the Cambria slabs is on full display on the large kitchen island and the full-height splash surface. Varied warm grays veining through a white field, Skara Brae is one of our favorite designs by Cambria. If Skara Brae is not your style, just check out their huge selection of other options.

The wall cabinetry in the new kitchen design extends all the way up to the ceiling with a stacked crown molding and mirrored top section to the doors. The top section of these cabinet doors has a clerestory look with antique mirror inserts to conceal what is behind them.
Convection Countertop Microwave Built in With Trim Kit
Did you know that Village Home Stores is your regional source for Viking appliances? We offer the full catalog of products from this line and our in-house appliance service team is trained to repair the whole line as well. In this kitchen we installed a 5 series 1.5 cu. ft. countertop microwave in a cabinet and built it in using a trim kit (sold separately). In addition to the features in the microwave oven, this convection model offers real convection cooking to brown and crisp evenly. Settings such as ConvecBroil, ConvecRoast, and ConvecBake all at the touch of a button. It even preheats for baking perfection!

Stockbridge Oak “Gingersnap” flooring from our exclusive Paramount line is the perfect pairing with the wood accent stain in the kitchen and surrounding spaces. A significant change for this home was the installation of new 3/4″ solid wood flooring not just here in the kitchen, but nearly everywhere on this main level. The foyer, formal dining room living room, powder room, kitchen, pantry, dinette, office, and hallway to the garage all are the same “Gingersnap” wood surface.

The kitchen island ends have been paneled to give the custom look of wainscotting and the back of the island gives the same illusion. But instead of applied doors, this is a full section of added storage under the overhang! With the location of this storage facing away from the kitchen, the storage here can be used for truly anything. Bulk pantry items, holiday dishes and serving platters, or even board games, music, or movies for the living room.

Lantern-Shaped Lighting for the Kitchen
With the peninsula and pendants removed from the old kitchen, a new light fixture was installed above the island. This is the “Gabriel” 10-light fixture by Quorum and the sister 6-light lantern-shaped light from the same series hangs above the dinette table. This same Gabriel series comes in many shapes, sizes, and finishes for your home. A classic lighting silhouette with an updated look. This series is perfect for transitional and traditional styled spaces.

Wet Bar Area With Sink and Tiled Walls
Steps from the kitchen is a wall of cabinetry and counters set up for a wet bar area. The same clerestory mirrored cabinets from the kitchen repeats here across the top. At the center, wine cubbies and shelves stained with the “Charcoal” accent color. To separate the look of the kitchen from the wet bar, tile was used for the wall surfaces here. Boulevard 2″ x 9″ tiles in the “Full White” color are installed in a horizontal brick pattern. Skara Brae Cambria is repeated for the countertop surfaces, and a bar sink and faucet are installed near the living room entry.
