Steak salad

This dinner is a good one for a night when there is a lot going on. The steak marinates overnight and the salad comes together quickly.

  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 4 TB red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 flank steak
  • lettuce (I used mache)
  • sliced cucumber (I used cucumber from the salad bar as we only wanted a few slice each)
  • 1 shallot, thinly sliced.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 TB wasabi paste
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 TB cream

Combine garlic, vinegar, oil, thyme and parsley. Stab flank steak with a fork to tenderize and then pour marinade over steak and refrigerate overnight. Grill flank steak for 5 minutes on one side and 4 on the other. Let rest and slice.

whisk together wasabi paste, mayonnaise, sour cream and cream. Place a serving of lettuce on each dinner plate with cucumber slices and shallot. Top with steak and mayonnaise dressing.
