Coronavirus has had us all getting misty-eyed for simpler days.
Honestly, nostalgia is bigger than ever, but while most of us are happy watching repeats of The Vicar Of Dibley or sitting down in front of re-runs of notable Wimbledon matches, that just isn’t enough for some people.
Despite coronavirus infection rates soaring in the US, 90s star Vanilla Ice apparently thinks it’s the perfect time to headline an Independence Day Throwback Beach Party – right in the heart of pandemic hotspot, Texas.
The Fourth of July weekend concert is set to take place tomorrow thanks to a legal loophole, despite bars being closed due to a large surge in Covid-19 cases in the area.
The venue — Emerald Point Bar & Grill, located on the shores of Lake Travis — is technically a restaurant, but also has a large capacity outdoor general admission concert space.
Posting on Instagram, the Ice Ice Baby singer wrote: “The 90s were the best. We didn’t have coronavirus, or cell phones, or computers. We had 5.0′s, blockbuster, Beavis and Butthead, Wayne’s World, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan ... Mortal Kombat is still better than Fortnight ... the last of the great decades.”
The $300 VIP seating tickets have already reportedly sold out.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter is less than impressed...
We"ll never know if a future spike in Texas covid cases is the result of attending a Vanilla Ice concert as no - one will admit to going.

Y’all really out here risking your lives to go to a Vanilla Ice concert and I just want to know why? Like you can have your one song concert in your living room or even in the shower. https://t.co/vCnBzWRMgy

Vanilla Ice.
Performing.
In 2020.
In the middle of a pandemic.
As cases surge. https://t.co/aTxh1rmsk9
The last thing anyone will have to worry about is a COVID spike due to a massive crowd at a Vanilla Ice show. https://t.co/C7E0RAne8A
